How can I add a new fan?

Postby scienzk » Mon Jul 11, 2016 8:20 am

I want to add more fans. I have 40mm fan. It has a molex connector.
N2+ printer head has a 2 more molex connector, but it is not working.

those fans are controlled by the gcode M106 command. the touchscreen refernces fan 0 but the second port is fan 1 and is not refernced. i have not tested it yet. by default the fans are off.

From left to right. The second one has already been set in firmware. It is default off in ideaMaker. You can set its speed in ideaMaker or on the screen. The third and the fourth are constant on.

I've added a fan to the 2nd slot and have Ideamaker set to turn the fan on at Layer 2 to 100% yet this doesn't work on any prints.

Do I need to go in and manually alter the Gcode? If so, how?

Does the fan work proper with the two constant-on slots?
If editing fan speed on screen, does the 2nd slot works properly for adjusting fan speed or not?

Check the polarity of the fan's wiring. Some fans come with reverse polarity (which will cause the fan not to turn on).

Best,
