Project: Closed Loop Filament Sensor

Postby socke » Tue Sep 05, 2017 6:56 pm

This is still a work in progress, but as some people asking for something like this, I decided for an early release:

Currently, the sensor is tested on the desk only. Next, I need to check how to modify Marlin. But as this is not my top priority it may take some time. Alternatively somebody else could do the integration...

Everything depends from my time budget, so there is no fix planning ...

Hmmm, nice and simple ...and could be even smaller with some re-engineering. Well done! I like the fact that it is truly a multi-purpose "sensor". It can 1st) check the continuity of the filament, 2nd) check the clogging and 3rd) the consumption. Though I think that the encoder wheel should have more notches to be more precise.
But bottom line a great simple idea!! Actually is an wonderful idea. With a good software programming this could be a "Kickstarter" worth product!
Thumbs Up!
