Marlin 1.1 Official Release

Postby spacexwannabe » Thu May 04, 2017 4:37 pm

Hey all,

So the official Marlin version 1.1 firmware has been released after a fair while in beta. It's got quite a few awesome and useful new feature in it, but what I'm most interested in is the OOTB BLTouch probe support as I'll likely be installing one within the next few weeks.

Is there any possibility of Marlin V1.1 being officially supported by the Raise3D team anytime soon? And if not, is there a relatively straightforward guide on how to configure V1.1 for the Raise (N2+ dual in my case)?

I'd like to have the touchscreen working as per usual if possible, but I've also got no issues running Octoprint via the touchscreen board or from one of the RPis I've got lying around if need be, or any other reasonably functional method of using the printer with that firmware.

Thanks for the help!

Awesome, thanks Michael!

I've read through a few of your posts about it, did you end up getting it working nicely with the touchscreen? Any particular issues or problems to be aware off or need solving with the new firmware?

Also, do any of the files other than the configuration.h file need modifying?

Cheers

the N-Series Protocol has to be added in to the main_marlin code. I'm compiling the code now and getting ready to test it on my printer.

for naming conventions, i am calling this 1.2.0 for the raise3d firmware version.

firmware update successful. let me update my touchscreen to 0.9

got back into github, figured out my password.

The issue is bootloop due to the SDcard support. I'm going to disable SDcard support and go the route I first used to get past this issue with an n-series protocol message. we don't have an SDcard anyways. I'm also turning off the reprap full graphics display support, which will save memory.

current assessment. marlin 1.1.0 is not yet stable. it has a major issue with boot looping due to float / int changes for 32-bit controllers. This needs to be fixed before i can move forward.

fully read the thread on the boot loop. they fixed it but my old code needed modifying to support the new function. fixed the code and it is working.

Great stuff, thanks for the updates. Any chance you can post a link to a Github repo (or PM me one)? I'll probably look install and test it on my printer soon.

Firesped,

Have you released your Marlin 1.1 on Github yet? I heard that the 1.1 release was "broken" from the start due to some float operations that are targeted to ARM chips but caused a problem on Atmel processors. Anyways, I am interested in the UBL feature of 1.1 and would like to give it a try.

I haven't put it on github, I shared a copy of it with jetguy and raise3d. my printer has been in maintance mode for a while cause I need to get the left hotend reinsulated and installed after a bad print. not due to this firmware. I was just working on putting thermal pads on my hotbed and i thick I blow out my controller.

Firesped,

I am after the UBL but I would like to have the RepRap display enabled. I am plenty capable of building it. If you are willing to share, my email is bwclark1 at gmail dot com.
Thanks!

Ditto, I'll PM my email through to you. If you're willing to share it that'd be awesome.

Ideally I'd like to see us keep a common version of the latest firmware that works with the raise on github, that way we can all draw from the same version to configure how we like, and any updates to the core marlin code can be easily merged in and the firmware recompiled!

I haven't heard back from Jetguy yet. turning on any display is easy. I just turned the displays off since over all I don't think many people have rushed out to use them. raise3d was using them to verify the firmware.

right now my printer is down, waiting for me to order parts in to fix it. mainly it is me trying to pick the parts I want for a bed leveling mod.

How is that going to work? Would like to hear your plan of implementation because without changing the front panel LCD Raise 3D app, I think you are going to throw an error when filament out detection kicks in.
