which camera is recommended?

Postby 3d_printer_fan » Thu Mar 23, 2017 3:37 pm

Hi @all,
I am wondering how the camera functionality is working. I have plugged in my USB camera "MS lifecam HD-2000" in several USB ports, but nothing happend by clicking the cam tab on the panel...

Maybe a special camera has to be used? I searched the community for getting answer, but many threads were discussing about a cam-mount.

Thanks, Matten

no, there are no supported camera; the camera tab is just a tease... They meant to have it a originally, but have since dropped the idea. They really should remove that tab.

Thanks Charles,

It's somehow strange...
Anyway, what are you guys using for a camera then? An external IP camera??

Thanks, Matten

I use the original camera they sold with the printer. It is far from ideal since the focal distance is not great for having it in the machine. Others here have used everything from the Nest camera to other low end network cameras. Just do a search on camera and see the old threads on here.

Currently we are testing new camera samples. Will release more information after we get any progress.

I use an old mobile phone running the IP webcam app. If you have a phone you don't use this is a good way of getting a camera for free.

Any more info on a supported camera? I can't get the original one to work, I've given up on it. Every camera I find on Amazon that seems affordable seems to be part of China's plan to see what I'm printing

I‘m so sorry, although the new camera is on our list, but may not release very soon.
Still need time for more test and designing the function, interface and hardware for it.
Maybe will release internal testing first, then open to public to order.

Anyone got a simple wifi camera they like? Hopefully one that won't sell my identity...
