door frame has come unglued

Postby obfuscated » Mon Oct 17, 2016 11:19 pm

So the black frame around the door has come unglued from the clear plexi... Guess ti would be nice if it was actually screwed together or glued with stronger glue. I haven't tried gluing it back together yet/.. guess I was planning to use liquid nails

Would you like to share some pictures to support@raise3d.com.
We want to feedback the problem to our factory to check which part we can improve.

We are so sorry for this problem.
May I ask some problem pictures too?
And may I know how did you fix the problem then?

Here is a pic of my door frame separation.

Eventually I will remove the door, disassemble and replace with either 0.25 or 0.5mm thick 3M VHB, and increase the surface area applied.

Just looking through some magnification, It appears that the VHB tape used does not have either enough surface area for proper bond adhesion for the task or maybe wasn't clean before application of the tape. The combination of factors is most likely. BTW, I've used VHB for a variety commercial & personal projects. 3M has several application docs/white papers on determining VHB configuration needed for the project.

I have the same problem. The door is more than halfway removed from the frame. Raise3D support said "sorry to hear that but it's not really broken so you're on your own". It would have been nice to at least get a recommended solution to what is clearly a common problem.

I had some double sided tape around so I'm giving that a try.

PS: The top of my lid is also separating from the sides. Seems to be a systemic issue.

UPDATE: The standard double sided tape didn't last long. I am printing ABS so the unit does heat up a fair bit. I have some super sticky servo tape from my RC Car days that I'll try next. After that I'll resort to messy but possibly more effective epoxy.
