UI issue with Ideamaker on Ubuntu 16.04

Postby twgray » Sun Jul 22, 2018 6:55 pm

I have just installed the latest 64-bit Linux version of Ideamaker. I am having a User Interface issue with this version, as well as the previous 32-bit version. All tab labels, dialog button labels, and text field labels longer than about 5 characters are truncated, making most of them unreadable. With tool tips this wouldn't be a complete deal breaker but as can be seen in the 3rd included picture, the number of tabs is truncated and none past the advanced tab is displayed nor can be selected. This make the entire package unuseable! I can only assume some library dependency is missing. As mentioned, this also occurs with the previous 32-bit Linux version.

I hope this can be resolved because I really like what I can see and use.

Have you guys considered releasing this as an AppImage to solve all library and version dependencies?

May I ask how much scale did you set for your computer?

Well, being Xubuntu and the XFCE window manager, there is no scale, per se...I can go in and modify DPI and Font size, which does help, but it then makes most of my other application's text too small to read. I am guessing that you guys neglected testing Ideamaker on a 4K monitor. I failed to mention that is what I am using.

We have tested on Ubuntu 16 on 4K monitor, seems fine from our side. But we have tuned some dependency options for it.
If you need, we can tune for your and share the file with you test.

Please, that would be great. While the font and dpi mods I have made make Ideamaker useable several menus and dialogs are still pretty hard to discern. However, as I mentioned in my response, I am using Xubuntu 16.04, which is the Ubuntu flavor of the XFCE window manager.

I would be happy to test for you now and in the future. I am a retired EE with about 40 years of experience in software development, including several years developing with QT.

Downloaded and installed. Appears to be identical to previous version...no change!
