Vase mode only works if the object being sliced is not already hollow. Otherwise, it does not slice in vase mode even when vase mode is selected. This is true of most slicers, not just ideamaker.

See this topic for some vase mode tips.

Also note, there is a quirk with the thin wall settings in Ideamaker that can create spurious points never part of the model.

Also, link to the STL or share the gcode, but the STL will tell us if it cna even be sliced in vase mode without modifications.

that's actually not true.. I have many STL's I created with Fusion 360 in the sculpting section that all slicers have no issue with Including Ideamaker.. all I test with Cura, S3D Ideamaker and Slic3r without a problem.
All of my "Simply Deformed" vases on thingiverse are hollow/single layer models. This model also which is one of the more popular I did- https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2259234

now that makes sense.. I will test this! thing is it never shows on any g-code display.. not in Ideamaker's preview or in Octoprints G-code viewer, which I often catch things in as it's very accurate. Thanks I'll try turning that off as I'm pretty sure I have it on.
