Updating Dropbear SSH To Fix Vulnerability

Postby kkrizka » Thu May 31, 2018 12:18 am

Hello,

I have a Raise3D printer at a large research institute. It is connected to the network to allow for uploading new prints directly from the ideaMaker software. The IT department runs a regular network scan looking for devices with vulnerabilities. It turns out that the Raise3D printer is affected by the following:
https://www.tenable.com/plugins/nessus/93650
Due to coming with a very old version of the Dropbear SSH server (v2014.63).

Is it possible to update the SSH server on the 3D printer? I have updated to the latest RaiseTouch firmware 0.9.9, but that does not seem to fix this.

The network upload feature is very convenient and I would like not to lose it.

If you'd like to test, we can develop a beta version for you to work with Dropbear SSH.

It would also be useful for backups to have rsync installed on a future firmware update as well.

May I ask the reason why you need to use rsync? For backup the files from touchscreen?

Yes. So I can backup my print files. I've worked in Linux/UNIX IT for most of my career so I'm very familiar with tools like rsync.
it would be my preferred tool for being able to back up data from the touchscreen unit.
Thanks!
