Shared Template Location

Postby B.A.T.Man » Sun Mar 18, 2018 4:15 pm

I use IdeaMaker on 2 computers. Is there a way to change the template location to a shared drive, Dropbox or Google Drive instead of constantly importing and exporting templates back and forth?

Thanks,

We would love to have this option! As well as have the ability to delete some of the default but unused entries.

What operating system? You could possible cheat it using symbolic links to a dropbox folder.

I would really like the option to have the template location in my dropbox.

I'm coming around to where I need this myself too. I've had a Mac until very recently and moved over to a dual-boot Windows/Linux Lenovo and had to move my Ideamaker config from the Mac over to Windows 10. It took some digging, but I managed to figure it out.
I still do most of my work on the Mac(migration...ugh, it's hard to cut the cord) so my templates are also out of sync again :(

It would be a useful feature in Ideamaker to be able to specify a template directory, then you could set that to whatever mountpoint you have for your Dropbox/Azure/G-Drive/whatever.

In the meantime, you could probably get by with some symbolic links, fswatch and Samba or rsync running on a Linux system. It might be a fun project to set up a PDM on a spare Raspberry Pi to sync profiles between your systems.
