File management

Postby jon_bondy » Thu Feb 15, 2018 8:04 pm

Is there a way to rename and/or delete a file once it has been uploaded to the printer?

Is there a way to see the files as a list? My file names are so long that I cannot distinguish one from another.

I'm not sure about renaming, but if you select the file and then select print - BUT - before you actually confirm the print there is a delete button (trashcan icon) in the upper right hand corner. You can delete it from the machine that way.

It would be nice if we could rename files, even if only while Connected from IdeaMaker

You can use SCP to log into the printer and browse, rename and transfer files.:

Select the Edit at top right corner.
Choose the file you want to edit, and press the Rename button below.

I tried this.

I have to "type" with my mouse rather than with my keyboard. Frustrating.

After renaming a file on the 3rd page, I am back at the 1st page (frustrating) and there is no way to navigate back to the 3rd page (no arrows). I had to click Done to get back to the navigator to get back to the 3rd page to continue. While this is possible to use, it certainly is more difficult than it needs to be.

I tend to want to capitalize the first letter in each word. The way shift works makes this very laborious.

I tried to delete a file in Edit mode, but it did not get deleted. I had to delete the file after selecting it for printing

It would be nice if the firmware remembered the step value I entered last time (10, 1, 0.1). Every time I restart the printer, I have to reset that value.

Is it possible for me to ask a video to check what happens after you select a file under Edit mode then choose delete?

Do you mean you want the screen to memorize the unit you choose for axes moving after restart?

"Do you mean you want the screen to memorize the unit you choose for axes moving after restart?"

Yes, please. Once I choose a unit, please maintain that unit until I change it again.

SCP is the way to go, as ABH mentioned. It'd be nice if IdeaMaker had this functionality built in.

That would be a very nice enhancement.
