Well done.

Btw.:
So why is this an option to turn on/off?
Is there any chance that using this option makes something worse?
If not, again, why is it an option??

By now we can see one obvious worse point is with the option enabled, the slicing speed of ideaMaker will be reduced.

I also had the Vertical Offset Top Layer set to 0 and still there was 1 layer gap but setting the support to Pillar fixed that.
I just want to say Thanks to the software and Raise team as I am just loving Ideamaker and the response/updates of the slicer!

How's it looking for 3.0.5 being the solid stable release? I see it's on the DL page.

Some of the proposed features would be huge for us, but I can't beta test...

I think it’s a good idea to have this option on top layers.
Often the top layers get a travel move over it that messes up the quality.

I have also often wondered about the logic the software have wen printing. Often you can see the printer starting to print the layer in the middle. Then travel over the printed part and print a new section. Then travel over to the other side and print the rest.
Especially for the top layers it would make sense if the whole layer would print from one side to another in one go. And in the same direction. That would make for an even top layer that would look uniform.

Is this the appropriate place to report bugs?

I can't seem to get it to change the speed of the top layers. I want to slow it down so, but can't seem to make it work. Tried a couple of prints. Nothing going.

The current version 3.0.5 is a version of release candidate. Should be much more stable than beta version. But we still keep the official version on website, in case if the new one includes any bug.

Do you mean Top Solid Fill Speed?

I tried different values here, and check the preview to check the speed change, it works properly.

Starting position Z-Hop

Sometimes I use the Z-Hop option. At the moment it is so that at startup the Z start height is approached first and then the first XY position. That's not good, because the braces can get in the way. I mean in the last version 2.6 this was not so.

+1 on this as well, I keep hitting my bed clamps on larger prints. if anything have it first go towards the back of the machine, then to the right to start.

Why is the machine going five cm to the righ in the air in the beginning? Is it supposed to do this against the bed to purge the nozzle? That has been my though all along. That it shouldn’t do that in the air. If so. The new behaviour would be more correct.

I have reviewed some of my prints and adjusted the settings... I figured out what the problem is. The speed is only effective on the last set of layers at the top of the print. If you have multiple flat surfaces you don't get any change in speed on the intermediate layers. For example (I have set it to something ridiculous [150mm/s] so that it comes out in the image better):

Yes, this was the setting I was referring too. I have reviewed and you are right the top layer does work out right, but this does not work when you have multiple levels in a print. Below is a diagram of the top layer speed at 150mm/s with a small stair/box. You will see that the setting only works on the last one, and not all the intermediate steps as well.

hope this clears up my issue.

Starting position Z-Hop

Another note about the Z-Hop. If I start a print with raft, XY is started first. Z is only approached first if without Raft.

It should be due to at those layer has infill and other structures need to be print together with top solid infill.
We will double check the priority of speed settings. Thanks for your picture!

If not dropping the bed down during purge but close to nozzle, the filament will have no space to be extruded out.

Ok. Thanks. I have seen some other printers purging by extruding a line at the edge of the print bed.

May I ask the reason for this? Is it due to the difference of the first layer height between Raft and model?

In my opinion, there is no reason for it. It is always better to first move to the XY position and then Z.
