Software Suggestion - improve 1st layer from support

Postby Venphi » Sat Oct 14, 2017 8:52 am

Hi guys

I have been battling to get a proper first layer surface where supports are used. Keeps on coming out stringy and with gaps.

With some playing, I was able to get it marginally better.

Within Ideamaker, this is what it looks like - notice the gaps - picture attached

Then I sliced it in my Zortrax's slicer to see if there is a difference. The first print layer on support or raft is sliced differently - taking shortest distance and not elongated.

This gives a much better surface finish.

I am not sure if this is due to the "smart bridges" function in the slicer. With a bit of tweaking it can still get better.

The question:

Will it be possible to investigate the incorporation of something similar in Ideamaker as it will greatly improve the first layer on a raft or more importantly on dense support layers?

Looking forward hearing your response or advice.

Have you ever tried dense support layers in ideaMaker? Dense support layer will create some almost solid layers when approaching the model structure.

Is it possible for you to share the model with us?

Apologies - had to redesign to get it delivered to the customer.

No need to apology, we just want to whether we can get the file to test bugs.
If it is not available, it doesn't matter, we can try to find out ourselves. But may need to take some time to find a similar structure to reproduce the same issue.
