Print slow, me or Idea?

Postby NerdyBerdy » Sat Sep 23, 2017 2:37 am

Hi,

Ubuntu 16.04, a6-clone, Prusa i3, MK2.

I just printed an item sliced with Cura and it took 2-hrs. Speed was set at 60mm/s, 10% infill, all good.

I set up IdeaMaker (Duplicated Raise N1) with all three speeds (default/inner/outer) in Advanced to 60mm/s, 10% infill. and left everything else as the N1. Sliced and it shows 5-hrs!!

I set it going and it looks like your gcode is optimized much better than Cura so should be even faster. The item is rectangular and has an outer perimeter 6" x 3". The head seems to travel way slower then 60mm/sec.

On the 6" sides (straight lines) I timed it and it is taking just over 4-seconds, close to 30mm/s.

Is there another place to set speeds?

Is there a better setup to duplicate?

Fortunately  we just had a power glitch and the print has halted.

deceleration speed may be coming into play. IIRC that is set in firmware.

Thanks, but it is still showing more than double the slic3r rate and also Cura which is only about 10% slower than Slic3r.

Also, if the the deceleration is in firmware, wouldn't that be the same for them all? I am using the stock A6 Marlin-based firmware.

any settings in firmware are not known to the slicer and will always override your g-code. This is an interesting problem. May I suggest that you send the model and g-code to Vicky to let raise analyze it?

Can you post screen shots of your slice settings used for the part in each application as well as the part file and your Gcode?
