ideamker reboot ? all settings lost ?

Postby lami3d » Sat Feb 18, 2017 7:59 pm

Today,

after a launch that i cancel to modify, i went to ideamaker and it was impossible to get my saved settings us usual : :? :? :?
i restarts ideamaker and, when i want to reach my saved settings (filaments settings), there's no saved setting!!!!, just the basic settings depending on the printer i have (N1, N2, N2+)....

????????

i have lost 25 settings depending on 25 filaments i have !

why please ? it makes that on a second to another...

i'm tired

Same thing happened to me about a week ago.
Uploaded a print, shut off computer, next day loaded Ideamaker and everything was gone.

No clue... No Windows update that night either.

UPDATE:
This morning for fun I hunted down where Ideamaker stores profiles. It is in: /users/<yourusername>/appdata/local/Raise3D/ideamaker/profile

Interestingly enough, they are all there, including the profiles I have created since the old ones vanished. I can import the old ones and Ideamaker saves them with -export added to the name.
For some weird reason, Ideamaker just will not see the originals that are sitting in same folder as their newly created twins.

Any clues Raise?? Vicky?

This is just really strange.

All my folders in program files/raise... are dated from 02-18 just like if they are all new...
The only thing i can precise is that i used also S3D at the same time (but i was using both softwares for a long time) when this happens
Strange is the word

i saw the same for the profiles

there's also a "config" file that is created (and maybe updated) when you add a new filament (because, i lost the profiles but also the filaments created in "filaments settings")
i used to create a new filament and then imported a profile that i modified for this filament
but i think there's a link between the filament added/created and the profile and it seems that this link is made when you import the profile in the new filament... it seems not recoverable...

but it's good to get the profiles... just think to save the flowrate for each filament now because this setting is lost

Interesting.

I've never used the filament settings to be honest. I always just go in and use the profiles I've created. I also use the same brand of filament and type (PLA) almost exclusively.

I have used S3D many times while I am using Ideamaker. S3D controls my Qidi Tech 1, and Ideamaker is slicing for and monitoring the N2 Plus.
I also use S3D to slice for N2 Plus, and then monitor with Ideamaker after USB stick transfer.

I can't see how S3D could be related.

Unless someone can't point out something obvious, I'm calling this a bug in Ideamaker.

Would be nice to get some sort of response from Raise3D on this strange behavior.

i spoke about S3D because it was the only thing that was running when the crash happens
and i'm ok with you, it don't have to deal with this problem

if you don't use filaments settings, how are you savings flowrates for one filament ? maybe i don't use it correctly but i found it was the only way to have a full setting (flowrate, diameter... until oozing and others parameters) for a filament.
I'm even creating a new filament for a new colour even if i already know the brand and the kind of materiel it is.

Raise has to modify the way to link the profile and the filament
I think the link is done when you import and save a profile but it's not editable after

May I ask a compressed package of all these folders?

Windows excluded two empty directories Vicky.

Yes, I'm printing a facehugger :)

Thank you for any assistance, this is quite annoying.

Have you ever edited the config.xml? It seems lost some settings which should be there.

I tried to reinstall ideamaker so my files are all new now... sorry

but, what i thought is that it's like this config.xml file has been reset
The profiles seems to be listed in this file and when i inspect it, i just found the default profiles.

From the config.xml bellatrixzen shared, there are 28 templates in all. But in ideaMaker there only appear 13 of 28.

N2 Plus -> PLA 1.75mm 11
N2 Plus -> ABS 1.75mm 1
N2 Plus -> HIPS 1.75mm 1

The F series printers and N series printer with V2 hotend are missing from config.xml. Must have someone delete these printers from config.xml.
But some templates are still under RAISE3D N2 Plus - V2 Hot End, PLA 1.75mm - V2 Hot End.

I have never edited the config.xml file.

I didn't even know where it was until I went searching for my missing profiles.

If so, that's so strange.
I can only find 3 printer types with your config.xml file.
Do you have the same problem?

So any recommendations Vicky? Is a reinstall of ideamaker needed?

If so, can I leave old profiles there and will the config then pick them up during install??

1. Close all the process of ideaMaker.
2. Copy all the folders under this address: C:\Users\xxxxxx\AppData\Local\Raise3D\ideaMaker\
3. Copy this config.xml to C:\Users\xxxxxx\AppData\Local\Raise3D\ideaMaker\config
config.xml

4. Open ideaMaker again to check whether the printer templates back.

Hello Vicky,

i've reinstalled ideamaker
i'm going to delete the profiles files that remains (i 've already copied them in an other folder)
And i'm going to reimport these profiles through ideamaker to rebuild the config file. I think it's good

But is there a way to find the filaments settings (fialement diameter, density and flowrate) ? or were they in the config file ?

tx for your help

Filaments settings are in config.xml.

Yes I have the same problem, I have to manually go into the use directory to find the profiles. THis is likely an issue with windows 10 -> it is VERY particular how files are stored and if you try to go around it it will move the files to where it thinks they should go without even notifying you. Probably needs an app update following windows 10 protocols -> storing programs and subdirectories in the programs directory is not really supported any more.

Will ask our software to check whether it is related to protocols or not.
Mine is also Windows, but haven't met same problem before.

I just did exactly what Vicky said and the printer select option now lists all printer types, V2 included.
It picked up my old profiles, but strangely it did not pick up the ones I created after the originals vanished. Odd.

Easy to import a couple newer profiles than all the old ones. So there is a strange bug somewhere.

But, I appreciate the help Vicky, this solved my problem for the time being.
