Loads of New Exciting Updates available for download

Postby KS_Husker » Mon Oct 29, 2018 3:14 pm

I can't wait to get these new downloads and try them out.

From the change description listed it sounds like Raise3D has really been listening to what people have been asking for.
Of course there will always be more, but it sounds like this is going to be a huge step in the right direction.

Thank you Raise3D!!

I'll get "excited" if they ever update 3-year-old Marlin for the N-series.
I'm not holding my breath.

That is not my experience with IM. I've always found it to be fast when slicing, but I am usually working with small(ish) engineering type parts. So I downloaded a 52Mb Groot model from Thingiverse https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:438143 to give it a try. IM sliced it in 7 seconds. I scaled it up 165%, set the layer height to 0.1 and tried again. Slicing completed in 14.7 secs, saving the sliced file took a further 31 secs (the print would take 98 hours and use 840 grams of filament!). I'm using an i7 laptop that's about 5 years old with an SSD, so nothing fancy. I don't have Simplify to compare it with, but that's because I have never needed any of it's additional functionality enough to part with the cash.

This was with IM version 3.1.7, I will download 3.3.0 and try it again

WOW, you guys sure have a lot of negativity going on. I just tried the new software last night and many of the things I've mentioned for upgrades as well as others have been implemented now. This software works great. I am very impressed with the balance between ease of use as well as great features and the many adjustments available. Of course there's still room for improvement, there always will be.

Many people on here need to tone down the negativity. It's getting pretty bad and acts like a disease spreading on this forum.
I came from using printers from another company that were very expensive and their software was pathetic as well as their customer support. Until you've seen this type of treatment, you have no idea how good this company and their products really are.

So try to use Simplify3D. I was start with Idea Maket and finish with Simplify3D and I don’t want go back. Why? Because those upgrades I was get before. Second slicer works better and faster. Next you get updates often than with IM, and you get new features also. Another final issue you can better calibrate materials with multiplier parameter and I get perfect prints. Before with IM don’t. So don’t tell me about pathetic peoples. Let’s talk about facts. I was fighting with overextended prints from beginning. Now I can control it. And final. Software interface is better, easier and faster to control. So let’s compare it with IM. I’m listen what you want to tell me about it.

With IM version 3.3.0 and using the same Groot model scaled to 165%, it sliced it in 14.3 secs and finished saving the file 26 seconds later. That particular Thingiverse stl file had 830 non-manifold edge errors, which IM auto-repaired in 22 secs.

Overall I didn't see much improvement in slicing time with the latest 3.3.0 but, at 14 seconds for a model this size, I'm not complaining

IM 3.3.0 has a great new tool for cooling down inactive extruder during print. Unfortunately it is completely useless, because it messes with temperatures so bad that it even can swap temperatures between extruders. What a pity.

I have used simplify 3D since it came out in 2013 and like it a lot but this statement is way off, S3D is by far the slowest among slicers in their updating cycle (they haven't had an update in a year) and the rate of new features has also been quite slow over the past few years. If you are going to argue "facts" at least get them right.

The same as I mentioned in my earlier post, an i7-based laptop with an SSD running Win 7, circa 2013 vintage. The SSD is only important for the file saving part of course.
