Is it just me or does this EULA contradict the open-source designation of the firmware on the N series machines?

Specifically where it states "your use of any software and firmware (including all related documentation, the "Software") utilized in the operation of any printer manufactured by the Licensor...."

It is just a standard EULA specifically for RaiseTouch but not for firmware for motion controller board.

I guess I'll learn more next week after the holiday but the person I spoke with in our legal department felt otherwise and suggested that I do not upgrade. He said it specifically states "any software or firmware utilized in the operation" of any printer manufactured by Raise3D.
Kind of hard to utilize the operation of the printer without the motion controller firmware.

The terms related to Open Source firmware are in Section 2.
Your use of the Open-Source Components is governed by, and subject to, the terms and conditions of the applicable open-source and public licenses.

Can one update to 1.0.0 directly from 0.9.7 without first installing 0.9.11?

No, you'll have to update it manually

Can't upgrade past 0.9.2. Tried on a fresh formatted SD card, first to the last release (1_0_0_831), then incremental from 0.9.7. No dice...

I think you must use USB not an SD card. The reason is, different storage devices are seen differently and so USB is the device it looks for to update.

Tried twice, with two different USB sticks. Same behavior.

Can the touchscreen recognize the other files in the USB drive?

Yes, it can see Gcode files inside.
Tried again, reformatted the drive many times, FAT32, copied only the updater file, but after a long wait with a black screen all I have is version 0.9.2.1026...
I tried also rollback to 0.9.0, unsuccessfully.

Would you mind open a support ticket to contact our technician? I remember there has a way to update firmware via SSH login remotely from laptop.

All done.
Thank you!

A transcript of the email I sent to the technician:

"All went well.
At first I had an error transferring the file. I was in a Mac using Interarchy to do SCP. The log pointed to a no space error. I tried to batch delete but Interarchy crashed, then I tried WinSCP on Parallels, trashed the full root directory, transferred the file... and voilá!
Te curious thing is how all this started, I was unable to upload files from Ideamaker, allways having errors. Than I heard about rsync, now on the new Raisetouch release. And all of this was caused by a full storage space on the machine.
If I may I would suggest two things on future updates:
A notification alarm when the storage is about to be full
A batch delation of these files, now you have to delete one by one..."
