Resume function question

Postby kencfii » Mon Dec 18, 2017 7:52 pm

Question about the resume function/battery functionality.
Does it work like a UPS? So if the power goes out for a few minutes or fluctuates - will the printer keep printing like it was on a UPS?
Or does it go to PAUSE and you have to restart it?

Wondering if I should keep this printer on a UPS...

And if I do keep it on a UPS - what size UPS is sufficient.

I have it on an 850 now and it BEEPS when the bed and one extruder are warming up - pulling too much current :-(

the backup battery is on the touchscreen only. it lets the touchscreen save the current print location based on the power cut and then shutdown the touchscreen.

I have my printer on a backup battery as well.

the PSU for the printer is a 500 watt unit. could not really tell you what you need exactly to keep it going though.

Hi Kencfii,

Like @firesped mentioned, the battery backup is only for the touch screen and will only function to help power down the touch screen.

At home I have my machine on a 1000 watt unit and have not had any issues so far. For now just plug directly into the wall and get your self running. We look forward to seeing what you are able to produce!

Note, if the power off time is too short, it is not enough for the screen to complete the checking printing status and saving process, under such cases, the recovery function may fail.
