Dual Extruder Issue Pro2 Plus

Postby Russ406 » Tue Dec 04, 2018 7:14 pm

I'm having an issue w/ our pro2 plus. Using the touchscreen to activate the right extruder nozzle, it does not lower, the left hand extruder stays down.

I printed the dual extruder "spinner" stl that was provided on the USB drive, and the RH extruder did come down when was needed. But after the print I was unable to get the LH down again using the touchscreen, or with new G-code files it also did not come down even though I was set to print LH extruder only.

I've updated both Firmwares to the lastest using pro2 0.0.66 and 1.1.0.1109 for the touchscreen.

Have you heated the nozzle to over 180C first?
To achieve one nozzle switch, you need to heat up both the nozzle to be over 180C. Then choose either up or down arrow for that nozzle to have the one you need move down and the unused one up.

Vicky thank you this was the answer. I have another question on a different topic but didn't want to start a new thread. When I start a print it seems to prime and extrude a lot of filament before going to print similar to when you load the filament. This sometimes sticks to the extruder and drags along w/ it then gets stuck up in the print. Is there something in my G-code settings as it didn't seem to do this on the test print G-code provided on the USB.

I would recommend you to enable a skirt around the model, so that the purged filament can be stuck onto the skirt not affecting the actual print.

Hi Vicky,

I'll try that but am a little worried because it is a fairly large amount of filament and it builds up to approximately .5" tall and I'm afraid it's just going to hang up as the extruders go by and such. I can post a picture if that helps. I'd expect a small amount of filament to come out before beginning to print but not at this rate.

This was helpful Vicky, but I'm still a little confused I guess you could say. When I print w/ dual extruders the amount it primes out of the left exruder is much less (and what I'd prefer) then when I print w/ a single extruder? Why is that? I understand I can make changes to the G-code value but what is the thought behind this?

We concern that if the two purge lines from two nozzles may mix with each other if too much which will be drag together to the model.
But the start code I sent you before has asked purged filament stuck onto build surface. So it will should have less chance have filament be dragged to the model.

Hey Vicky, Yeah the G-code you gave me worked and I appreciate it. I was just curious as it seems to prime 3 times the amount when printing w/ a single nozzle (Original G-code not the new one you gave me) compared to when I print dual nozzle it's a lot less.

Thanks for the help.
