Stepper low current mode

Postby simon » Thu Nov 08, 2018 10:06 am

What effect does switching to the stepper low current mode having on the actual printing/mechanics of the machine?

I understand the option was introduced to improve PLA printing by reducing the motor temperatures, but if it doesn't have any effect on printing why not have low current for all materials? Alternatively why not let ideaMaker control it so it can be automatically selected in the profile for PLA? This way users don't need to remember to change it on the touchscreen.

Btw I have not needed this function for PLA but I have experienced jams with TPU/PolyFlex so this might help?!

We don't recommend to use Low Current Mode unless you have overheating issue with filament at extruder side, in case lower current can not provide enough force for extrusion.
