Fan wing is missing ...

Postby Korni » Sat Sep 22, 2018 6:00 am

Hello,

After wondering all the time that my Pro2 + was louder than any of the others I've heard / seen on the internet, I took a close look at my printer .....
Behold .... I miss a wing on the front fan

What do I do now ???
Warranty, replacement?
And HOW is he changed?

Ahhh, if you thought I had something in the fan ... no. He was a bit louder from the beginning.
I do not want to get a free fan with my posting .... if it comes under warranty, nice.
Much more important would be a guide to change and which would be the right one.

for now, can you break the fin on the opposite side so they would be balanced? That would reduce the noise.

NO
First, I do not want to affect the cooling or provoke a hardware damage, second, I do not damage a 5500€ device not extra.
I do not see a direct connection of the fan connector. Do I have to disassemble the complete extruder?

Korni,

I think you need to contact Raise and ask them to send you a new fan or they can tell you the make and model. If you trace the wire around the back and up, you will see it has a connector. If you struggle getting it from Raise; It is a basic PC cooling fan and you should be able to find these online

I note that you may/will have to remove the little wire cover on the back of the extruder to route the wire of the new fan. After you have removed it, you may find it is next to impossible to get it back on without jamming up any wires. I have left mine of..

I am amazed it has been printing properly with all the vibration..Also, because of the vibration, are you worried about other possible damage to the stepper motors, bearings, etc..

Can I break down the little wire cover on the back of the extruder without disassembling the extruder?

You can contact our support asking for warranty parts. And we will prepare instruction for you.
The cover at back side can be opened without taking the whole extruder apart.

I found it easier to desolder the wire from the old fan and solder it to the new one, leaving the cabling in place.

Which screws have to be solved exactly to remove the cover?

You can find an instruction about how to install the front fan in this page.
