Extrusion or something else?

Postby Flightrider » Wed Jan 16, 2019 11:29 pm

I just changed to a BondTech for my N1. I've been having some problems with Matterhackers PLA and switched back to R3D. I was running at 215C and this machine has always put down a very smooth layer. Today, I got the BondTech going. Set the E steps as instructed; set the stepper V to .5V as instructed. Now trying first print and I've noticed the extruded plastic looks a little as if it's coming out of the nozzle not smooth as before, but a little like it's having pauses and forming almost like beeds joined at their edge. (See photos) The BT extruder seems to be working strong though.

Any ideas on what's causing this? I've tried from 200 C all the way to 230 C with no difference.

Thanks,

Dave

Check if your filament is feeding correctly and not slipping.

:)

Could have been a partial clog.

I'm SLOWLY learning to recognize blocked or partially blocked hot ends and how to clear 'em without a tear down. Often, I can heat the hotend to 235; reverse and forward the filament once or twice and it clears. For the most part, the R3D N1 seems to work reliably, except when I tried the Matterhacker PLA. I haven't been able to print with that on my R3D or CR-10S. For now, I'm staying with the R3D Premium when I can get it.
