Inefficient extruder motion in IdeaMaker
Inefficient extruder motion in IdeaMaker
When I print this planetary gear, there are moments when the extruder moves briskly from left to right to left. It is as if it is going to locations that are sorted in Y but not by X. The optimal path would be a circular one. I'm not sure how important this is. Just wanted you to know.

Re: Inefficient extruder motion in IdeaMaker
Seems it is due to Solid Infill structures to fill as a basement for the next layer.
We will take a look how to optimize the moving path.

Any advance on a circular infil?

You want to add circular to be infill type for ideaMaker?
Re: Inefficient extruder motion in IdeaMaker
yes that would make infill of circular items stronger and more efficient to print. An extreme example is a cylinder that has a 1.5mm wall thickness. For this I had to increase the number of shells (hence, no infill) so it would print in a circular motion. The time saving was hours.

Re: Inefficient extruder motion in IdeaMaker
Do you mean use circular infill only for circular structure? It sound similar to use full of shells with no infill for model as you mentioned. Any difference between?
Whether you can find any picture or other software has similar feature can show us?

Yes circular infil for a circular structure is what I mean.
The only difference between a model with full shells and no infill is the use of fillament, time and inibility to use 2nd extruder or different material although I'm not certain about that last point. I will try to post a picture of what I mean.
