Re: ideaMaker Sugar Floss

The stringing problem you discuss can be eliminated by reviewing and implementing changes recommended found on the provided link to Simplify3D: https://www.simplify3d.com/support/print-quality-troubleshooting/#stringing-or-oozing Stringing or Oozing Stringing (otherwise known as oozing, whiskers, o...

Re: ideaMaker Sugar Floss

Slight pet peeve I have, people calling any stoppage of extrusion a "nozzle clog". Did you actually have a nozzle clog, as in something stuck in the nozzle that you had to manually clean out such as by removing the nozzle or doing a coldpull? If this is not a nozzle clog is this after you...

Re: ideaMaker Sugar Floss

Oh yeah, after 17hrs nozzle clog and the feed gear began the dreaded clicking (skipped steps) and failed. SO BONUS!

I believe I have all the current N2 hardware defects currently resolved to at least a operational level. Re: Air Printing Problem.

Make sure it's not the feed gear slipping...and then grinding.

Matthew Lozano had a mod to add a 0.5mm to 0.75mm shim X 5mm wide between the feed stepper on the corresponding side of the extruder feed housing, testing the mod now...

Re: Replacement XY drivers?

Thanks Matthew!!! I was 17hrs into a 35 hr print, walked by my makerspace and noticed extruder feed gear was slipping... Ugh.. Went ahead and used 4 strips of nylon tape to make a .625mm shim behind E0 & E1 Matthew... It's now tight enough that I really, really have excerise force to cause it to...

Used IM to pause so I could insert captured nuts into the print. Feature worked perfectly.

Re: Print fan shroud/ duct at 90 degrees for strength

Yep, several of us have ran into that, as seen above, also when you print out your new fan ducts, print them laying flat vs standing up.

Vicky, you might want to add "Support Still in Extruder Fan Ducts" to the FAQ.

Re: Replacement XY drivers?

Thanks Matthew. I had just found and was reading the discussions in the old forum about reducing the Vref on the E0/E1 A4988 to allow slipping of the feed gear vs grinding. We still need a fix for the extruder, this was the same issue MakerBot Replicator2 till WingCommander (WHPThomas) fixed the pro...

Re: Replacement XY drivers?

Fantastic Jetguy! Testing various settings on the Vref on the SD5984 driver carriers today, with 4hr prints. @0.750VDC (1.5A) = Temp on the X&Y Steppers very warm to the touch. Not comfortable @0.650VDC (1.3A )= Temp warm, however not hot, can keep hand on the stepper (scientific right?) @0.550V...

Re: Replacement XY drivers?

Rs = Resistance Shunt, ie the current sense resistor. It will likely be labeled something else on the PCB, also note you will have two of them on each driver for each coil in the motor. I think this is the correct calculation: I=Vref/(8*Rs) So a Vref of 0.8v will give 1 amp. Thanks Matthew! Based o...

Re: Replacement XY drivers?

Vicky can you confirm a SMD resistor labeled Rs. I can not find one on the silkscreen of the PCB or one the schematic.
