Re: Thermal-Protector - available soon to all

In the electronics box at the mainboard. Putting it at the extruder would defeat the purpose of being able to detect a cable failure.
Until official instructions are released, this picture pretty much sums up the basics.

Re: Thermal-Protector - available soon to all

Anyway to sticky this post so it doesn't get buried?

Very happy this is addressed and hoping users see it because even I did not see this this message until browsing the topics.
Before I made this reply this was only visible if you went and browsed the "General" category.

Re: Bondtech BMG upgrade for the N series

Yes, for the most part. I don't know how many have gotten the E3D custom setup and I have still yet to install mine. http://forum.raise3d.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4841&hilit=e3d I also run V2H nozzles, but that is also a Raise3D sanctioned part so I consider it a "stock" option. I k...

Re: N1 Upgrade

Fully aluminum housing, precise grip on the display, perfect fit of the printer,I personally like polished natural material but also anodizing aluminum is a pretty good solution for the appearance. Just out of curiosity, what would one of those aluminum LCD housings run a person, especially if anodiz...

Re: First Layer survace

To further help you, here is a good article on the general topic of first layer and print adhesion. It explains the different options (and yes, Ideamaker does have all 3 options, Raft, Skirt, or Brim). There are pros and cons to each choice and understanding that (example: the cons and limitations o...

Re: First Layer survace

I print with raft to get the model better off the plate. At the first layer from the model you can see the single lines. they are not melting together and it looks very bad. After the first line everything is perfekt and the surface is good. That happens with eyery print You pretty much answer your...

Re: Filament winds around feeder?

Also, while on the topic here, some the same answer I just gave to a non-feeding situation applies. This is a single sided drive (the gear gripping filament turns under power, the idler just rotates providing pressure into the gear) and as such largely depends on the fact the filament is a rigid &qu...

Re: Extruder printing in air with non-Raise3D PLA

Other questions: How hot to the touch was the extruder motor on the feeder at the time of jam? Too hot to touch? Uncomfortably warm, or warm but not hot? Were you printing PLA with the top cover (lid) installed? What is your ambient temp in the room around the printer? The reason for these questions...

Re: Extruder printing in air with non-Raise3D PLA

Here is why I said all that. I do not know 100% the root cause of why you stopped extruding mid print. We simply do not have enough details from your post to make that kind of verification. What we do know is that you stopped feeding, and that ONLY with a manual intervention of unloading the filamen...

Re: Extruder printing in air with non-Raise3D PLA

If your extruder stops extruding, the first thing you the owner, user, and troubleshooter of the printer has to know is," did it skip or did it slip"? Slipping, AKA grinding the filament is caused by failure of the user to properly adjust the pinch distance between the drive gear on the mo...

Re: red LEDs on motion control board

Since the gcode is sent to the board over serial UART to include requesting tempature and expecting a reply, TX and RX will be flashing all the time. The heater outputs are green located by the MOSFETs, the power on is near the USB connector (green) and the standard debug arduino style red LED is ne...

Re: N2 Evolution since October

I see no sign of the add-on resistors to protect from the thermal overrun. I haven't turned the machine upside down yet, so if there's an intermediate cable/connector, I might not have found it yet. If they used the new safety board they created, you would in theory see a locking connector plugged ...

Re: heat sink adhesive

You'd hope it stays at 60C max, 80C is top of most electronics, not sure what a A4988 thermal cutoff temp is but you should never be near it. Second part is, the extruder steppers are nearest the blower with highest airflow. What you do not want to have happen is that heatsink move and short pins. G...

Re: Fan Mod (Extra Gcode Controlled Fan)

I would say fine. Just out of curiosity, measure the voltage out of the 12V constant on socket next to the ribbon cable connector when you have the gcode controlled fan on and the other fans are running. That would show voltage drop across the long ribbon cable with your load. Probably nothing at al...
