Where is the best place to put the two build plate clips

I recently did a 270 mm x 270 mm wide print with a 5 mm extended raft. The right extruder came very close to hitting the front build plate clips. What I thought was plenty of room became very small when you consider the width of the dual extruder and how high the two front clips are. Has anyone foun...

Re: IdeaMaker Supports so close together?

So I know now why the supports are so close together. When the supports are far apart like when using my grid technique the bridge part has lots of stringy bits for it's bottom layer. With really close supports that is not a problem. For my situation in which are are making prototypes the low qualit...

Re: Spool Holder for N2

So my spool holder now works, but it really isn't much of a reduction in friction from the original. My one used 0.3 N while the stock one used 0.5 N. I was expecting a larger gap in measurements but that is what I got, remember that the error in these measurements is probably about 0.2 N so the val...

Re: IdeaMaker Supports so close together?

Here is what I have been doing for a few years. Using grid style supports instead of a raft to cut down on the amount of filament printed and using elephant feet to really attach the corners to reduce warping. Less filament, easier removal, less warping. Just cause I can do it on another 3D Printer ...

Re: IdeaMaker Supports so close together?

My supports testing above miserably failed because my Horizontal Offset was still at the default 0.75 mm.

Here are the new supports settings I am testing.

Makes a support grid about 10 mm apart. Anyone else have any luck with different styles of support structures?

Re: Spool Holder for N2

As i have been advised 2 days ago, this design is a good one ! http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1729239 I will probably be printing that design, however has anyone tried it in the top spool holder? My copy of it went in easy but was almost impossible to remove. Not an issue with the lower spool hol...

It will have an engineer help follow your case there.

I sent a support ticket to the Engineers. I assume the Printer Serial Number is the first bar code number below the Power and Voltage statements.

Re: Spool Holder for N2

Too funny  . I tested my spool holder design today. It works, much less friction but the door will not close and the spool could slip off the spool sleeve. Back to the lab again.

Re: Filament diameter causing extruder slipping?

Thank you so much Vicky for showing the data and images. I really appreciate it. Looks like my rolls of Premium PLA are not the normal. Is there any point for me to place a support ticket? I don't really need replacement rolls as I am getting quality prints, it is only the higher speed raft that sh...

Re: Filament diameter causing extruder slipping?

Can you please share your measuring result and the sticker on your filament spool onto our ticket system? Sure thing Vicky, I will do that when I get back to school. Re: Project Bondtech Extruder

I have already done a few prints and result so far is extremley positive. No slipping no stepper motor clicking, it pulls so hard when i loading filament that i can't make the stepper to click or slip! This is with Z-ABS. Great study Trhuster. I am at the point with my new N2 where it has the slipp...

Re: Filament diameter causing extruder slipping?

My filament and Printer are brand new, I just opened the Stock Raise3D problem filament pouch last week. No humidity popping or brittleness at all. Or yes if as you said it's so small at certain point of the filament that the gear doesn't press the filament enough... there are mods to add a spring t...

Filament diameter causing extruder slipping?

I just did a study on friction like forces from the stock Raise3D spool holder http://forum.raise3d.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1053&p=13939#p13939 , but none of this would have happened if my Stock filament was between 1.72 mm - 1.78 mm. (1.75 +- 0.03mm) I think my filament was fine for my firs...

Re: Spool Holder for N2

Thanks for printing the part lami3d. So in summary at the moment: The stock Raise3D offset Spool holder MAY be causing some friction like forces (Actually more a lifting force when the filament motion causes the spool to rock instead of rotating and it trys to lift a percentage of the 1Kg (10 N) spo...

Re: Spool Holder for N2

I'm going to try to print this to tell you if it's good but you can compare with the base of the spool holder with bearing that fits very well. That is a really good idea lami3d, If you haven't already printed the part I can fully copy the thingiverse shape which is a much better design than I came...

Re: Spool Holder for N2

I will not be able to get into my school until Tuesday next week to test this part. I have printed my spool holder on my homemade Kossel Delta 3D Printer holder01.jpg I know that I need to make a few changes but I do not know if the holder will connect to the Raise 3D Printer. Could someone print th...

Re: Spool Holder for N2

Awesome idea Mecha_Monster I will test that when I have finished my centered spool holder Very low tec solution; apply a small amount of lube to the holder. The lub wont contaminate the filament, and the spool will easily roll. I did it and I notice a drastic improvement with my feeder skipping issu...

Re: Spool Holder for N2

As i have been advised 2 days ago, this design is a good one ! http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1729239 That one with the bearings looks really good, but I want to see if the amount of friction can be reduced using a normal 3D Printing spool holder. Re: Spool Holder for N2

Vicky, can you post the .STL file for the Stock Raise filament holder, I would like to try a wider diameter, or design a sleeve that fits the spool. (Not a big deal if you don't have it) stock-holder.jpg My Physics teacher side does not like the offset of the holder, I think when filament is pulled ...

Re: Clear cover, Warping and PLA

So I looked at the bed temperature with my IR thermometer. Looks like the 40 degrees C is fairly accurate 20170412_093523 - Copy.jpg So I tried to use 50 degrees C bed temperature and I found the raft stuck very well to the bed. In fact the raft stuck so well even with the bed height reasonably high...
