Re: cause of slipping filament

Thanks for the advice. It's a shame we have to be the guinea pigs here on such an expensive printer. I've lost a bunch of prints and time now because of this issue. So, for those that have been through this, should I just skip stepper adjustments and gear swapping and bite the bullet and get a Bondt...

cause of slipping filament

Is there a general consensus about what causes the filament to slip after some hours are are on the machine? I thought it might be a worn pulley bearing and replaced the right with the left and am awaiting results but am not sure that's it. Previously I had cleaned the cog well and also cleaned out ...

Re: single layer walls in ideaMaker

"But around 0.8mm width print with one shell should be fine." The problem is that the software can't print one shell unless in vase mode. If you guys really wanted to do this you could use a CNC CAM program that determines mid-lines (centerlines) for each layer of the STL and then program ...

Re: single layer walls in ideaMaker

Thank you for your reply. This is disappointing from an efficiency standpoint, takes twice as long for thin walls, but I can see why it might be this way from a programming standpoint. But why doesn't it just extrude half as much for each of the two layers (run the extruder wheel at half the speed)?...

Re: ideaMaker 3.0-RC Release Note Updated Rev. 3.0.5 2017.12.18

The group and layer settings are a bit confusing so maybe I'm doing it wrong but when I change the template setting past my original setting used first when I first opened the part it doesn't update the gcode or preview. Am I doing it wrong or is this a bug?

single layer walls in ideaMaker

I've been doing a bunch of testing and think that ideaMaker doesn't play well with thin, one-layer, walls with a 0.8mm nozzle. Version 3.0. Nozzle and extrusion width both set to 0.8mm. 100% solid fill. Not using vase mode. All STL creation done in Solidworks with highest resolution possible. When I...

Re: automatic shutdown at end of print

I'll second the request to make the printer go into sleep mode when a job is finished and after so many minutes (say 5 minutes). It bothers me to start a print and have it finished and then sitting on full fan, etc. for hours.

Re: Temperature Settings

My filament (included with N2) does best when I print the first couple of layers on 220/60 and then the rest on 205/40. I do this manually now- sort of a pain.

I strongly encourage that ideaMaker have the option to change the temp at a certain layer. Pretty please :)

Re: ideaMaker 3.0-RC Release Note Updated Rev. 3.0.5 2017.12.18

Is there a way to build a raft just for supports but not the part? Often my supports come off the bed when doing second layer.

IOW make the first layer or two of the supports solid or hatched rather than making the entire support filled in to a certain percentage.

Re: structural parts recipe

Sounds like good advice, I'll do some more digging on these techniques. Thanks.

structural parts recipe

New N2 owner and loving the machine so far. Of course just printing initial things like calibration cubes, Christmas gifts, and Minion keychain for my son. Now it's time to use this machine for what it's intended. Suggested settings for fast but strong printing of prototype structural parts out of p...
