First layer fill issue

I've noticed that I get different results for the first layer solid fill dependent on the direction of travel of the extruder. The easiest way to describe this is to imagine printing an item where the bottom layer is a square, I have found that I get terrible infill if the print head starts at the t...

Re: Engineering plastic filament

Forum member mhayduk has printed with it. I recall that it was a struggle. Don't know where he ended up with the stuff. I have a couple samples, but have never tried printing with it. You might try messaging mhayduk (Matt) to see what his experience was. Thanks, I'll wait a few days to see if he sp...

Engineering plastic filament

Does anyone have any experience with any of the Igus Iglide 3D printing filaments? Particularly, how it prints (I'm using an N2) and also how it performs in the real world. This is a specialist engineering filament designed for load bearing applications. There's a lot of information on various sourc...

Re: Coasters

My first thought is not the buildplate, it's the fact this Spring is all over temp wise. The thing you have to understand is you do not have a patent protected chamber temp control and even heated airflow. That's literally the line in the sand between a over $10k+ patent protected printer and a con...

Re: what happened to the the Official Raise3d Camera?

Did anything ever happen with the Camera? the Touch screen has an option for "camera" when I play with my N1, but plugging in a USB camera didnt actually do anything. The camera integral function is still under development. Will release it soon. Now that the Pro2 Series printers have been...

Re: Life Size Apocalypse Bust

Currently there is no way to find out the print settings from .gcode file. We are trying to develop the function to add settings into .gcode file and find a way to export the settings out. This would be such a great feature, I'm still new to the 3D printing world and I am currently writing my setti...

Re: Engine Cylinder head

Great to see some more mechanical engineering projects, I look forward to seeing how this progresses. Keep us informed of your progress with the support material, I'm working on some test prints for a motorcycle throttle body in my [limited] spare time and the support material is the biggest hurdle.

Re: Feature request for internal support or infill when needed.

I have been thinking along the same lines. A cube could be printed with almost no support until it gets close to the top surface, then the support could form at an angle to support the upper surface. It would also be good to be able to locally increase support density in certain areas like around ho...

Re: Hitting support layers / ZHOP settings

Hi Vicky, Mine is a single extruder machine. Z-hop is not enabled, I realise this could help alleviate the issue but I feel it would be simpler and more effective if there was a setting to tell the extruder to move around the perimeter of the model rather than straight across freshly printed section...

Re: Hitting support layers / ZHOP settings

What was the outcome of this? I also have the issue of the nozzle hitting supports and knocking them off. I have also noticed that the nozzle hits inner parts of the model, not just support parts. I left a print running last night and it was knocked off the bed by the nozzle hitting. The shape of th...

I'd like to add my support for this feature. It's hard to go back to navigating with the mouse when you're used to using a 3D motion controller.

Re: Filament winds around feeder?

I had the same thing happen yesterday. I was using a cheap brand of filament and it looks like it broke between the gear and the white tube above the hot-end and the filament continued to be drawn in and around the gear until it jammed. I upped the printing temperature on the filament by 5 degrees t...

Re: Patterns for Aluminium Sand Casting

As the picture shows the dense suppport came away perfectly cleanly when it was supporting a flat ‘roof’ but stuck when it was supporting a curved surface. I have only recently started with my N2 and found the same thing, I printed some motorcycle handlebar switch mounts and found that supports und...

Re: Patterns for Aluminium Sand Casting

I'm using my first post on this forum to tell you how great this project is! The quality of the prints and the castings are amazing. I'm from a design engineering background and it's great to see the printer being used to create engineered parts and supplement traditional industry. I recently ordere...
