Order of firmware update?

Hi,

just saw that there are updates to the N2 touch software and the motion controller firmware. Is there a special order in which I should do those updates or can I simply put both images on a memory stick at once?

Re: IdeaMaker: contents of the data file?

Hi Jetguy, That tells me you don't understand gcode in the slightest. Not trying to make fun of you, just pointing out a major gap in your knowledge base. Full ack. I never claimed to know anything about gcode =) That's why I asked about the data file and if it's in ANY way related to the slicer set...

IdeaMaker: contents of the data file?

Hi, does anyone know what the contents of the data file are? From what I've figured out yet at least a picture of the print is included to show the status on the touchscreen. The picture will fill up as the print process proceeds. So, if the G-code file is from a different software, someone can get ...

Re: Recommended settings for Simplify3D?

As far as I can see the toolset offsets are correct. Tool 0 is assigned to left extruder, offset 0/0 and -25/0mm for tool 1 (right extruder). The only confusing thing is that negative sign for the right extruder offset. However, I haven't made a S3D print yet, so it might be that the offsets are rea...

Re: Recommended settings for Simplify3D?

Hi Steve, I saw a shift when disabling 'apply tool offset' option, if I remember correctly. My current problem is that I've set the 'offset from origin' option to 152.5mm for both X and Y axes to achieve the same behaviour as in Raise3D IdeaMaker software regarding positioning of the models. Now, th...

Recommended settings for Simplify3D?

Hi,

are there any recommended settings for S3D beyond simply choosing the printer model (N2 dual in my case)? For example, any pre- and postprint G-Code commands, layer/extruder settings, etc.?
And are there any settings which shouldn't be changed?

Re: Bad adhesion of Buildtak

Hi, I think I'll try a new bed surface and/or leveling the bed. In the meantime, I'll use PrintaFix spray. Until it seems that at least most of the problems are gone, only some small portions of the current BuildTak sections used still have no adhesion. So I'll also try to use the other sections. Re...

Re: Bad adhesion of Buildtak

Hi ABH, for the adhesion over the whole part I think I've found a good setting in IdeaMaker. The first layer looks good, the problem is that only some regions of the first layer seem to have no good adhesion, which results in curling up. That's why I think the BuildTak surface has lost it's adhesion...

Re: Bad adhesion of Buildtak

Hi, okay, I'll try the sandpaper. My temperatures are 210°C for the nozzle and 80°C for the bed, currently using the yellow PLA filament which was included with the printer. Sometimes I can also see that the first line doesn't stick to the bed, causing the line moving with the extruder. However, I c...

Bad adhesion of Buildtak

Hi, I've read about people having problems with Buildtak and removing the finished parts from it. For me, I've the problem that the material doesn't adhere well on some spots. The material curls up (using the filament which was included with the N2) on different points. What I haven't figured out ye...

Re: How to move the printer head to given positions?

Hi Jetguy,

Ah, okay. Then I'll use this approach. Even if it's not possible to always have exact the same position it should be sufficient for bed leveling.

Thank you.

How to move the printer head to given positions?

Hi, I wonder if there's a way to command the printer head to move to given positions? It seems that I have to level the bed of my N2. Moving the head by the touch interface in steps of 10mm is time consuming, especially for bed level checking when the edge positions have to be moved on more than onc...

Hi Jetguy,

sorry for the late reply. Thank you for this link, very interesting.

By the way, are there any recommendations for the Simplify 3D software? I'm thinking about buying it.

Hi Vicky,

now it's clear, thank you for clarification. So, the bottom tube for the fan is used only for ABS and similar, right?

Re: Some suggestions regarding support structure display & camera control

Hi Vicky,

yes, nozzle heating is fast, but I wonder if it's good for the nozzle to have hot-cool-hot-... cycles. Keeping the nozzle on a "mid-temperature" might increase the lifetime.

N2 & fan control

Hi, I wonder what the fan control tab in IdeaMaker controls - the extruder fans of my N2 are always running. So, two questions: 1) I assume the fans are not necessary for cooling the extruders, but for cooling the print. If this is true, for which material cooling is needed, PLA or ABS? I saw differ...

Re: Some suggestions regarding support structure display & camera control

Hi Vicky, yes, keeping bed temperature for better removal of the model. For the nozzle temperature, I doubt that it's good for the nozzle to cool down completely, just to be heaten up again if a new print has to be made. So, the idea was to keep the used nozzle at e.g. 100-120°C. Do you also have an...
