Re: E3D v6 Adaptor

My line of though was that maybe the heatbreak wasn't tight in the heatsink causing thermal creep and jams. Also poor cooling fan performance can cause the same result. at first the temp difference wasn't that out of line due to the way and where the two probes are mounted to the heat block. One oth...

Re: E3D v6 Adaptor

Are you getting PLA jams where the filament stops moving and requires removing the filament from the print head and reloading?
If this is the case is there 10 or so mm of swelled plastic at the end of filament?

some shots of the temperature testing i did to see what the temperature was where the Nylon meets the heat break.

Re: E3D v6 Adaptor

Hi again. all metal hotends are great for high temp materials but sometimes can be a PIA with PLA. nylon lined hotends work great with PLA but the nylon degrades when running >~240 What if there was a hotend that can run up to 280c (maybe more) yet still have the nylon liner in the area jams tend to...

Re: E3D v6 Adaptor

Is there a ready to install firmware file modified to run the berd-air from the HE2 port? scroll up a bit, jetguy discussed how to modify the source to run the HE2 port. http://forum.raise3d.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4841&start=140#p33442 I'm not aware of one pre-compiled for this. There were...

Re: Thermal-Protector - available soon to all

http://a.co/d/j7LAQuw <-housing, i couldn't find a polarized version so pay attention to direction. http://a.co/d/hWC8Plx <- crimp on pins http://a.co/d/eL7Pnok <-wire. Due to the lack of polarized housing I recommend unique color for pin one rest can all be the same. Alternate parts https://www.di...

Re: Thermal-Protector - available soon to all

tldr: break in ribbon cable can cause intermittent problems that manifest as extrusion issues instead of an clear outright failure. Setting safety issue aside for a moment even though it should be enough to warrant immediate action from Raise3D. I have not installed pullup resistors, only because im...

Re: E3D v6 Adaptor

Well then im at a loss to explain the difference but I do agree with Jetguy that the hotend is probably not running hotter then requested.
The photo shows a part that didn't have time to cool down between layers not necessarily extruded too hot to start with.
turn on the berd and see what happens.

Re: E3D v6 Adaptor

So here is what I think is happening based on what's been said so far. correct me if this is not correct On the stock R3D fan setup layer cooling is always on. With your current setup it is now optional and off. This would explain the differences you are seeing. BTW layer cooling with ABS can be ben...

Did you change the fan arrangement between R3D and E3D?

Re: E3D v6 Adaptor

Ah, so based on the photo I would do two things to improve that particular part.
Add a brim and, because of its size, print two or more at the same time this way they have time to cool between layers.

Re: E3D v6 Adaptor

What does way to hot look like? When you run PID autotune what you're trying to do is smooth out the temperature swings and maintain the nozzle at the target temp as close as possible. so redo the PID autotune. As for your concern about being too hot, that's a hard thing to tell without physically m...

V3 hotend dims

Does anyone happen to have the heat-break dimensions for the un-threaded/smooth section?
How about the detachable heat-sink HxLxW?

Re: E3D v6 Adaptor

just a heads up. My max air pump was no longer pumping this morning. Pulled it apart and found the diaphragmss shaft was melting the motors eccentric thingamabob. (see picture) So new pump is installed and I added additional high quality PTFE grease to the diaphragm's shaft. (Magnalube G is what I h...

Re: E3D v6 Adaptor

Ok this is outstanding. This is what I was think of for some time now. Now a lot of the pain in the neck work is finished. I'm ordering as soon as I get some info from you experts! So my questions are: 1. 12V or 24V pump? 2. If 24V how does one remap the gcode? 3. If 12Vwith E-Switch and I place th...

Re: Migrate to different board and firmware

I'm going to second the disappointment in R3D response to the thermocouple issue. It appears to be serious enough to warrant a recall and replacement of the boards, the least they could do is the plugin fix and they still haven't sent the one i ordered, not that i need them to, it just speaks to th...
