Re: long pause feature request

what about using pause points in IdeaMaker, if it pauses between layers would that be as much of an issue?

Re: wipe tower issues

Have you changed the size of WipeTower before? In the gcode file you shared, the size of the tower seems a little bit smaller than the default setting. When you stop the print, does the tower stick well to the Raft? Does there have any tiny shifting on the model at that height? the tower sticks fin...

Re: long pause feature request

so then what solution would you propose to a user of the current firmware who needs to print items that take longer than say 18 hours? if you can't pause without the steppers losing their position, and you don't want to leave the print unchecked for longer than 1-2 hours at a time?

Re: long pause feature request

WARNING!!!!!! Current issue in 1.1.1 marlin firmware that any pause with no action in 60 seconds the steppers time out and lose position. I don't blame the user for not knowing this, I blame Raise 3D for not making this obvious and warning users or fixing the problem. Can we get an official firmwar...

Re: a couple small tweaks to wipe towers that might help in certain use cases

yes, but you could still set the size of the top to be the minimum needed for proper cooling, while still having the base be as large as it needs to be for stability, or you could just use the minimum layer time setting instead of a sacrificial tower for proper cooling.

Re: a couple small tweaks to wipe towers that might help in certain use cases

the wipe tower does follow the contour of the model. I do not think making it smaller at the top is a very good idea because as the size of the printed area decreases, you have trouble cooling the small area before the next layer is printed right on top of it. This is one of the things that limits ...

a couple small tweaks to wipe towers that might help in certain use cases

so I have been fighting with the wipe tower settings on a print that I have been attempting to get to work with dual extrusion of ABS/HIPS and two changes to the wipe tower settings seem like they would be very useful in certain use cases 1. Tapered wipe tower: for very tall prints you obviously nee...

long pause feature request

so, I personally prefer to be able to check the progress of my prints every hour or so while they are actively printing, obviously I cannot do this while I am sleeping, so I use the pause feature overnight... however with the pause feature as it is, the nozzles remain at the print temperature while ...

Re: wipe tower issues

I know it can be done, since I have 2 previously printed models, however I don't know what kind of support was used or what printer/settings were used since the parts were ordered from an external supplier before I was involved in the project.

Re: wipe tower issues

yes, dual ABS/HIPS, and the reason is that removing the support could be difficult for some of the geometries that I will be working with without damaging the actual model, and FYI there is also HIPS support at the top of the model.

try dense layer and reducing the "vertical offset top layers" in the support tab

Re: what is causing this problem

walshlg wrote:another question: is that support stuck to the bottom or the bottom layer of the part?

it is the bottom layer of the part, changing the vertical offset top layers setting to 0 fixed the problem, but the support didn't want to separate so I just had to dissolve it.

wipe tower issues

I keep having an issue with my wipe tower where it builds fine for quite a few layers and then suddenly it just starts getting all these blobs and then those blobs catch on the nozzle causing it to separate from the build plate. IMG_20170913_160807.jpg I am using a raft, and the wipe tower is close ...

what is causing this problem

I am using ABS/HIPS with several dense support layers but my first layer of ABS after the support looks like crap and doesn't stick properly to the later layers, IMG_20170911_104622.jpg the rest of the print looks fine, it is just the first 1 or 2 layers immediately above the support IMG_20170911_10...

Re: just a couple small things that have been bugging me

I made a slight modification to the dual part so that it would work better (having one of the long sides not have a protrusion was causing it to slide off the print head assembly) this is the STL for my modification
